Show Food Profiteering To Be Subject Of Congress Inquiry (Copyright 1935 by United Press) WASHINGTON, Juiy 31 (HE) Reports that "huge combines" of food processors and distributors receive $11.50 out of each consumer's consum-er's $19 food bill prompted the administration's proposed $150,000 investigation of processors, it was learned today. The inquiry to learn who gets the consumers' dollar was regarded regard-ed as the administration's answer to more than 400 suits by processors pro-cessors attacking validity of AAA processing taxes, from which benefit bene-fit payments are made to farmers. The investigation resolution passed the senate on Feb. 25. Decision De-cision of President Roosevelt to expedite ex-pedite the investigation placed it on the "must" list for house passage pas-sage this session. The inquiry probably would be begun this summer. |
