The new members were initiated at the Dec. 12 meeting when District Commander La r sen .spoke to the members. He offered of-fered suggestions to the new comrades on how they can best orient themselves to their new responsibility. Commander Lar-sen Lar-sen encouraged thtse new mem ber.-, to familiarize themselves with ideals of the Legion. They were told that the purpose of the Legion is contained in the Amer-! Amer-! ican Legion preamble. Value ; and worth are to be found in every line of the preamble, whereby the members will capture cap-ture the feeling of patriotism and .comradeship Chaplain Hringhurst informed the assembly that he has obtained obtain-ed an application for membership member-ship from "Chief Little Wolf." The members are anxious to welcome him. ' A very generous contribution lias been received by Post Go from the Smith-Fans Drug coni-l!i!iy. coni-l!i!iy. This year the Smith-Fans' employes chose the Sugar House Legion as the recipient of their yearly gifts to be given to t lie disabled veterans. This generous gener-ous gesture, along with our own contribution, will assure to ev- cry veteran at the hospital a Christmas package. Commander McDonald has appointed Comrade Tom Hawks as a member of tin executive committee. Comrade Hawks will fill the unexpired term of Com-I Com-I rade Phil Heilbut. Comrade ! Heilbut was forced to vacate his position due to pressing business matters. His resignation is regretted. re-gretted. The membership drive contest was won by Past Commander Ernie Hamilton and Adjutant Taylor. The losers, Commander McDonald and Vice Commander MeGhie provided dinners for the winners and themselves. The bowling team now has a financial backer. Comrade Clay Mills told the Legionnaires that the Ideal Furniture company will be the sponsor. Lettered shirts will soon be obtained for the team which has now advanced advanc-ed to the second spot. Cliff Husbands, manager of the drum and bugle corps, expressed ex-pressed appreciation of the corps' efforts during a very successful suc-cessful year. The Dec. 2( Legion meeting will not be scheduled. Because of this postponement the meeting meet-ing will be held on Jan. 9. The second meeting in January will be a social for the Legionnaires and their wives. Comrade Jensen is at this time to be commended on his outstanding out-standing activities during the war. He, with his assistants, Comrades Roy Coles and Bill Jones entertained the personnel of the armed service with many enjoyable performances provided provid-ed by a group of individuals possessing pos-sessing many and various tain ents.
