This was an error on my part and should have been that the officers of the auxiliary would visit the Children's hospital on I Monday, Pec. 23 and entertain ihe ehildrei. with a program and present for each child. The committee charged with the responsibility of having our Christmas lights put up has completed com-pleted this project. It sure gives the business section of our community com-munity a cheery ti; rstnias atmosphere at-mosphere and once again proves that the Lions are on the job. Our new friends the Highland Center Lions club have also installed in-stalled Christmas lights on the corner of Highland Drive and :t:i;d South Streets. Now wh:'n one drives out from town it is just one big gala Christmas party from Salt Lake on out. President Arch Aldous and the hoard of directors wish to pass on the following Christmas greeting: Chri-'mas through the ages has stood for all that is inspiring inspir-ing and fine in human relations for the lofty concept of the brotherhood of man . . . This, too. is the concept of Lionism, and i' is in the generous spirit of Lionism that we greet you, fell "w Lion, wishing you peace and happiness this holiday season, sea-son, and during all the days to come. fellows lose their way in life and wind up spending many years of their lives behind stone walls. As Warden" Harris spoke my thoughts traveled back a few months to a meeting we held and passed a motion to light the Holladay school grounds so that night soft ball and ice skating and football can be played during dur-ing the various seasons of the year. After listening to Wanton Harris tell of child delinquency, I felt tha' it is a challenge to every member of our club to back this project to the fullest j extent. No individual who claims to have tiie spirit of America in his blood can say that he doesn't have time to put in on the or ,i-ects ,i-ects that we have outlined to raise the necessary funds to com- ' pk'L. the lighting program and to do everything we can to furnish fur-nish every kid in our community with every passible recreational facility. Let us as a .club and Wednesday evening, Dec. 11, the annual Zone "D" party was held at the Avalon ballroom and every club in Zone "T" was represented. rep-resented. An evening of danc-. danc-. ing with a grand floor show during dur-ing intermission with punch and rookies being served all evening were the order of the day. A very good time was had by all those who attended. Thursday evening, Dec. 12, at Andy's, our regular monthly dinner meeting was held. And. by the way. it was the only meeting scheduled for the month of December. Lion Bud White, chairman of the entertainment committee furnished the club with a program that will be long remembered. Lion Bud had as guest speaker Warden John E. Harris of the Utah State prison. Warden Harris related stories, about many of the students of the rockbound university, and expresed his views on why these |
