Show f ttlrttbr f tixm The houselights are low but the snow outside and cozy room within are sparkling with the reflection of colorful Christmas tree lights. The stockings are hung yes, "by the chimney with care" by eager little small fry who have big hopes for the things Santa will bring them. Thare are Yule candles in the windows and holly wreaths of welcome on the doors and there is fruit cake in the cake tin. The closets are bulging with secret packages. pack-ages. It's Christmas in the Southeast ... in Sugar House, East Mill Creek, Holladay and Cottonwood. It's the season of glad tidings tid-ings and the people in this .community are noted for the enthusiasm enthu-siasm with which they enter into the spirit of an occasion And Christmas, of course, is not the least of the occasions which we have to keep us all busy out here. How about taking a peak with us into various representative homes and see what's cooking for holiday fun? These family celebrations cel-ebrations are typical . . . I Over on Emerson avenue . . . 2165 to be more explicit . . . the handsome Mack Corbett family is making big preparations for the gala event. Mrs. Corbett's brothetr-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Christensen are bringing their son, Stephen, to town ,for the holidays and then some. Mrs. Christensen is the former Josie Perschon and is living with her husband and son in Eugene, Ore., now. Anyway, the Corbetts and Christensens and the rest of the Perschon family will gather together the 23rd for a big family dinner. Come Christmas eve, Carol Corbett, age 14, helps usher Don, 9, and petit Irene, 18 months off to bed before St. Nick puts in his awaited appearance. Clayt and Betsy Boyle Kimball are looking forward to this Christmas with special feelings. It's the family's first holiday season together in two years. Cest le guerre you know. Tony, who is seven years old and all grown up (just ask himj) is busy these days explaining the wondrous myth of Christmas to little Carolyn who is only 4. The Kimballs hope that this' year will be the beginning of a long line of wonderful Christmases together with traditions special for them. They live at 2509 Glenmare. Traditional Christmas carols fill the air 'round about the A. R. Busch home at 1050 Hollywood avenue. This is a day full of meaning far this family. Mr. and Mrs. Busch came to Salt Lake from the east eight years ago and so they have no immediate relatives here. Consequently Christmas is just for their own children. And rightly so! The Busch couple plan their day to the desires of Barbara Ann, 7, and Diana Lynn, 2. They will dress and have breakfast (with a great deal of parental coaxing) and then the two girls can go into the tree and squeal over their gifts and munch on the goodies in their stockings. A time of rejoicing and worship alike is the way Mr. and Mrs. W. Jay Eldredge Jr., feel about the Noel season It's tra- ditional at the Eldredge home for the true reason for Christmas. J ... The beautiful story of the Babe of Bethlehem to be told to Jay, 9, Heidi, 6, and Sharon, 2. Christmas day the Eldredges will play host to Jay's family. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Eldredge and Mr. and Mrs. John Eldredge and family at a delicious dinner. The Keslers are busy decorating their respective homes out there in the-lovely Woodside drive area. Traditional with them is the family party held each Christmas eve at he home of the mother and father, Dr. and Mrs. A. B. Kesier, 1841 Woodside Dr. Dr. Fred P. Kesier, 39S1 Higland drive, and his attractive wife and three children, Robert, 11: Judith Ann, 4. and Stephen. 3. will be there with their packages in hand and ready to participate in the extra-special family dinner. Another spji and brother. Dr. and Mrs. Orson Kesier of Midvale will bring Orson Jr. and Dorrinne for the festivities. Christmas morning will see the Fred Keslers exclaiming over Santa's goodness to them and they'll celebrate the day in their own lovely home. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill J. Davis. 1057 Hollywood, will have a fire in the grate, mistetoe in the doorway and nuts on the coffee table for Aurelia Shimer (Mrs. Davis' sister) and their son and daughter-in-law. Merrill and Janice and baby Craig who will come to spend the entire day. There will be plenty of turkey plus fancy trimmings ... for all and a few extra special things from that jolly, bearded man for Don, 16, Shari, 5, too. |
