Show Legislators invite Symphony, Tabernacle Choir to present Southern Utah Concert mon Tabernacle Choir has never Riven a concert in the Southern section of the State. The four legislators involved feel that a joint concert of these two organizations "would be a memorable event that would add greatly to Utah's Bicentennial celebration. Four Southern Utah legislators have extended an invitation to the Utah Symphony and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to present a joint concert, somewhere in the Southern Utah area, as part of next year's Bicentennial celebration. In responding to the invitation placed by State Senator Dixie Leavitt and Representatives Sidney Atkin, S. Garth Jones, and Lloyd W. Frandsen, Mr. Conway Ashton and other members of the Utah Smyphony management indicated that they felt a request to have a joint concert would be received with enthusiasm by the Symphony and the Tabernacle Choir. A letter has now been sent, by the four legislators, requesting Dr. Obert C. Tanner, chairman of Utah's Bicentennial Commission, Com-mission, to consider such a proposal. The Bicentennial commission was appropriated $8,000,000 by the Utah legislature in 1974 to use in Utah's Bicentennial Bicen-tennial celebration. It is hoped by the legislators that part of this fund could be used to finance the joint concert. The Utah Symphony has performed annually for a number of years in the Southern Utah area.
