Show Talented Cast Works On Springville Playhouse Production For February Rehearsals for the outstanding 3-act play "Outward Bound" by Sutton Vane, are going forward with presentation scheduled for Feb. 10, 11 and 12 in the high school auditorium, announces Mrs. Jay Madsen, president of the Springville Playhouse. A talented cast is working on the production which is being directed by Mrs. Janet Crandall of the Playhouse group. Mrs. Crandall has worked many years in dramatic dra-matic work, having received her training at the BYU. Her directing direct-ing in the Springville Playhouse includes the 3-act plays "Murder Mansion" and "Have a Heart." Dramatists who have done notable not-able work in the theatre productions produc-tions both here in Springville and elsewhere, who are working in the cast include Don Watts, Elaine Erickson, Mark Hoover, David Gledhill, Elmina Madsen, Grant Clyde. Merle Schreiner, Warren Schouten and Ernest A. Strong, Sr. Don Watts, playing the part of Scrubby, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Watts. A former high school Thespian, Don played the leading role in last year's high school production, "The Big Door Step." Elaine Erickson playing the part of Ann. is also a former Thespian Thes-pian and took leading roles in "The Man on the Stairs" and "Rumplestiltskin" at the high school. She appeared in "Where There's Smoke" and "Down to Earth", playhouse plays. Mark Hoover playing Henry, was active in high school dramatics appearing appear-ing in a leading role in "Tom Sawyer." Saw-yer." He played also in playhouse productions. More versitile players in the cast include David Gledhill, a newcomer to the Playhouse taking the part of Mr. Prior has done considerable dramatic work at the BYU appearing ap-pearing in major productions, "Blithe Spirit". "Julias Caeser", Heaven Can Wait," "Twelth Night" and "The Com is Green." I He is a past president of Utah i Beta Chapter of Theta Alpha Phi, National Dramatic Fraternity. Grant Clyde, as Rev. Duke, is a BYU graduate and Theta Phi I member, having played in at least j 8 major productions at the Y in-, in-, eluding "Family Portrait", "You Can't Take it With You" and ; others, as well as having appeared j in several Springville Playhouse i productions. At present Grant is ! dramatic instructor at the high school. Elmina Madsen portraying Mrs. Clividen Banks and Merle Schrein-! Schrein-! er as Mrs. Midget are two veteran j actors and dramatic workers who have stared in Playhouse productions produc-tions as well as working in and directing ward plays. Mrs. Schreiner Schrein-er received her training in Salt i Lake .City and Northwestern University Uni-versity and is presently the Kolob stake drama director. Mon-tana. Warren Schouten as Mr. Lingley, will be remembered for his fine performance and role in "Down to Earth" last February and -his work in high school both acting and staging, have given him much experience in the field. Pres- ident Ernest Strong, portraying Rev. Thomson, has appeared in several fine roles in ward and stake plays and will be remembered remember-ed for his strong characterization in the play "The Bishop Misbe haves" of a few years back. With this fine talent, townfolk are promised an outstanding production pro-duction and are asked to keep the .dates open for seeing these performers. per-formers.
