Show Angling Season Will Open On June 12; Closing Set Oct. 10 The Utah angling season for 1954 will open June 12. at 5:00 a.m. j with the closing date set for October Octo-ber 10. These and other rules and; regulations covering the general, angling season were among ac- j tionstaken by the Fish and Game. Commission in recent session. High Uinta Mountain waters were scheduled to open July 3 through October 10. The Commissioners Commis-sioners ruled out any early season opening on some lower elevation waters as has been the practice in recent years. Daily bag and possession limits will remain the same as during 1953. except for whitefish or herring her-ring and grayling. Anglers may now possess limits of 20 fish of these species over and above the limit of 12 fish or seven pounds and one fish of other game fish. Previously these two species were included in the limit of trout and other game fishes. Daily fishing hours were again set from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. through the season. Except for Fish Lake in Sevier County, only minor early closures were scheduled in conformity with requests where conflict arises where waters are on private lands. Fish Lake was set to close September ?9. The Commission cut the popgear or tandem type lure, to three blades and a rudder or guide. Other regulations for baits and lures were unchanged, except that live minnow fishing was authorized for certain bass waters in Cache, Tooele, To-oele, and Millard Counties. The new rules and regulations become effective April 15. Prior to that time the annual angling proclamation will be published and available to all sportsmen. |
