BIG FIRE IN CHICAGO chicago oct 25 tha new station of the south side elevated railroad at indiana avenue at fortieth street which was opened for passengers only a few days ago was destroyed by fire early today the electric power of the entire line was shut off for half an hour or more to permit firemen to fight the flames without endangering their lives several trains were stranded between stations 1 residents in apartment buildings near the station were aroused by the engines and many of them fled to the street in a panic the cause of the filreis supposed to lave been a derangement in the electrical equipment
