republicans FOR DAY tho entire republican ticket Is strengthened in the present contest by the knowledge of the fact that the republican city administration Is in sympathy with the eight hour demands of the labor unions there have been instances of disregard of the i hour law by contractors on city work but such failures to obey the mandates of the law arc not within the power of the city administration to prevent the remedy is to be found in the courts and the complaint must come from those cognizant of all tho facts an employed emp loye tor instance prior to the present city administration the police force was hours but the men now have their mcg ular eight hour shifts and are not called upon to do service beyond that time there are many large cities where there is a stronger sentiment back erf tho union demand for an eight hour day which tall to give their policemen a day of that limited duration because of necessity the firemen are on duty tor a longer period also the sanitary inspector but all other em aloyes of ogden work eight hours and are therefore within the limits of the almo service exacted by the law and by unionism undoubtedly this action haa the endorsement of all the labor unionists of thus assuring the republican ticket not only victory but a majority approaching unanimous endorsement dor
