Show 'LUNATICS' VICTORS N OVER 'HELLEITES' All sorts of speed were shown by the "Lunatics" last night, and they vanquished van-quished the "Helleites" by a score Qf 45 to 35 points in the contest at the Des-eret Des-eret gym between two teams of business men's classes. Only seven games were played, on account ac-count of the lack of time. In the circle 1 high jump, the "Lunatics" madn 20 points, and these proved the winning tallies. tal-lies. In this contest two circles were formed of men from both teams. The : men went around in a circle, each time : jumping over a bamboo stick four feet , high, until every man on one of the teams had touched the stick and thus had been eliminated. In one circle A. G. Gunn upheld the honors of the "Helleites," while In the other circle pix "Lunatics" survived after the last of the "Hellettes" had succumbed. A circle whs then formed of the seven surviving contfntants and, although Gunn hopped until four of his opponents harl lost out. the other two remained after Gunn failed, which gave the "Lunatics" 20 points. This sport prove.i strenuous, an many of the men had to jump more than 100 times. In the club passing, the club rilay race and the tug-of-war, the "Lunatics" also won, while in volleyball, "skin-the-hnake" and the neck tug-of-war, the "I llk:ltes" wfre victorious. The neck tug-of-war consumed much time, a-s the harness broke several times. The teams formed in such a position that they were pulling with their necks. Afler a short struggle, the "Helleites" proved superior. A. G. Gunn was best all-round man for the "Helleites." while Spencer Squires starred In volleyball for the "Holloltes." P. M. Foster showed up well for the "Lunatics." More than eighty competitors competi-tors participated. |
