Show MARINE CORPS IS TRYING NEW PLAN "Silent Campaign" for Recruits Under Way; Pictures Appeal for Enlistments. For the purpose of helping start a keener interest In the marine department of the United States war machine the marine corps publicity bureau Is conducting con-ducting a silent campaign through the publication of a series of pictures depicting de-picting life in marine tnUning quarters and in actual service. The most recent issue by the publicity department comes to the local recruiting office in the nature of a book of halftone half-tone productions. The portfolio contains twcntv-flve Interesting scenes, each be-in? be-in? twelve by sixteen Indies. An Interesting Inter-esting note accompanies every picture. Captain A. M. Roliblns. In charge of the marine corps recruiting office In Salt Iake, has about fifty of the portfolios which he plans to distribute among local loiK-es and libraries. The Palt Lake marine corps bureau Is receiving on an average of fifteen applications appli-cations daily at present, but an order to Inaugurate a vigorous campaign for recruits re-cruits is expected within a week. |
