Show DRIVE NEW TUNNEL j IN AMERICAN FORK. Work Started to Develop Steele, Clipper and Silver Sil-ver King Claims. For the purpose or" developing the Steele group of claims ami also the ( ' Upper and Silver King claims, the work , of driving a tunnel has been started on the property, located in American Kork canyon. Two shifts of men have been employed and it is the intention of the operators to continue driving the tunnel tun-nel until it is in a distance of L000 feet. Those conversant with the ore deposition deposi-tion on the property are of the opinion, however, that pay ore will be encountered encoun-tered long before the objective point is reached. The work on the tunnel was started several days ago. Two shifts of miners are employed and another shift is to be added as soon as the conditions at the property will permit of more men working. The management is also considering con-sidering plans for the installation of power and the use of power drills as soon as the work reaches a point that will justify such an action. The Clipper and Silver King group, consisting of two claims, is owned by George E. Hemphill and associates. They have taken a bond and leuae on the Steele group, which consists of four claims. Three diorite dikes will be tapped in driving the tunnel through the property and a porphyry dike about forty feet in width will also be encountered. The dikes cut through the white limestone formation are the same ones that traverse trav-erse the Miller Hill territory. The Miller Hill ground lies to the east of the Steele group and recently there has been developed a very good ore showing show-ing on the Miller property. It is expected that the tunnel will tap the dolomite limestone within 200 feet of driving, which is the formation in which the ore 'of the American Kork district oeours. In the event that the tunnel is continued for 1400 feet a forty-foot forty-foot porphyry dike will also be encountered encoun-tered in the f lipper and Silver King ground. I 'onsiderahle lend ore was mined along this dike some years ago. |
