Show READY TO DRAIN LANDS. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Sept. 10. Convinced as a result re-sult of their trip to Bear River valley that the draining of water-loesed lands is not only feasible, but would be a profitable profita-ble venture, the fifty Weber county farmers farm-ers who made the journey yesterday are ready to attempt the project in this section. sec-tion. Most of the farmers were residents of the Plain City and Hooper districts, where it is proposed to establish drainage drain-age systems for the reclamation of about 3000 acres of land. According to County Commissioner Moroni Skeen. one of those who made the trip, the Weber county farmers found that the value of BeanRiver valley land, which had been in some instances worthless, had been enhanced $1000 per acre by means of drainage. Tt was ascertained from farmers tn' the northern district that the cost of putting in the drainage systems sys-tems has been about J15 per acre. The commissioners of this county have offered to authorize drainage districts for the benefit of the Plain City and Hooper districts if the property owners in those sections desire to attempt the project. |
