Show FORMER DIXIEITES' HAVE GOLDEX WEDDING Annabella, July 2. The golden wedding of John and Mary Adair Adams Smith was celebrated May 17 with lunch served at noon for the immediate family present, one son and six daughters, 3 6 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A program was given in the town hall at 2 p. m. for the public. John S. Adams was born at Mas-adena, Mas-adena, Hancock county, 111., May 11, 1944. He was blessed and named by Joseph Smith. He came to Utah : in Sept., 1848 with his grandparents, Dr. Prida and Sarah Meeks. His parents Orson B. and Susan Adams went with the Mormon battalion, arriving ar-riving in Salt Lake a few days before he did. He with his parents were among the first settlers of Iron county. There he was chosen minute man to help protect the whites from the Indians. In-dians. He was on the Green River trip after stolen cattle. Mary E. Adair Adams was born 1 April 15, 1858 at Washington, Utah. They moved to Long valley, were there at the time the Berry boys were killed by Indians. They moved mov-ed out with the rest of the people, then going back to Washington where she met John Adams. They were married May 17, 1876. S Mr. Adams worked on the St. ! George temple also did work in the I temple after its completion. He was I called on a mission to Arizona to help settle that country in 1882 returning re-turning in 1892. They have a pos- terity of 13 children, 11 of whom 1 are still living; 52 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
