Show LA VERKIN La Verkin, July 5. This morning at about 1 o'clock an explosion of some sort was set off on the public square by some "4th of July celebra-tors," celebra-tors," the concussion of which caused caus-ed houses to rock and shake as if it were an earthquake. 43 window panes from one end of town to the other were broken, causing an estimated esti-mated damage of $200. Thirteen of the broken windows were in the public pub-lic school house, 13 in the Graff Merc, store and the rest in dwelling houses. The 4th was celebrated here last Saturday by an excellent program in the morning and some very fine sports in the afternoon, including a base ball game. Mr. and Mrs. James Judd, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Judd and families are spending a few days at the Pine Valley mountain opening. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Button and children of Siguard are here visiting Mr. Button's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Button. Mr. and Mrs. LaFell Iverson of Washington spent Sunday visiting here with Mr. and Mrs. Loren D. Squire. Miss Melba Woodbury is home from Zion lodge where she has been employed. The Bee hive girls left this morning morn-ing for a three days' outing at Zion park. J. W. Segler came in from Salt Lake City Saturday with a new car. Mr. and Mrs. William Hardy are at Pine Valley for the opening. |
