Show L. D. S. 0. WILL DENY DIPLOMAS TO USERS OF TOBACCO "No student who smokes can graduate grad-uate from the L. D. S. university." This was the ultimatum issued to students by Pres. Guy W. Wilson, in , an address at the daily student as- sembly at Barratt hall Tuesday. The school head declared that there had been rumors that a few of . the students had started to smoke. i He made it plain that the ruling of , the board of trustees is that students ( must not use tobacco, and that if they t do they cannot graduate. Smoking goes hand in hand with delinquency in scholarship, he explained, ex-plained, adding that it is one of the causes of non-attendance, failure in class work, and a low average of ac-complishment ac-complishment in subjects of study and other school activity. Students enter the L. D. S. U.. with the understanding that if they have been using tobacco they will at once refrain from the habit, and that if at the time of registration a student does not smoke, the understanding between the school and the student is that he will continue to refrain. |
