Show NATIONAL CROCHET WEEK GIVES RISE TO PRIZE-PACKED NATIONWIDE CROCHET CONTEST 1 M' OVIE-GOERS are seeing 3-D, school children are learning the 3-R's, and needleworkers all over the nation are hearing: about the 3-C's during the week of January 23-30. National Crochet Week is the big event, bringing the 3-C's crochet, contests and cash prizes into focus. Over $2500 in cash prizes will be distributed to nimble-fingered crocheters. The three crochet champions Grand National Champion, Men Only Champion and Teen-Age Champion will be named at the end of the year and will receive free trips to New York City. In addition, the Grand National Champion, whose piece is judged superior to all, will be awarded a $500 cash prize. The Men Only and Teen Age Champions Cham-pions will receive $100 each. SIXTEEN CROCHET CLASSIFICATIONS No matter what you like to crochet, you will find a place for it in the Nationwide Crochet Contest, provided that the article is made ,of mercerized crochet cotton in any thread size up to and including 100, and has been completed since January 1, 1954. The classifications are as follows: Tablecloths, Bedspreads, Luncheon Cloths, Centerpieces, Buffet and Vanity Sets, Chair Sets, Doilies, Scarves and Wall Panels, Edgings and Insertions, Pot Holders and Hot Plate Mats, Place Mats, Other Household Accessories, Fashion Accessories, Men Only, Teen-Age Teen-Age Girls, and Ladies Over 65. All entries are to be entered first through a state, county or local fair and receive the special blue ribbon before they are eligible for the national judging in New York City. Any number num-ber of pieces may be submitted to the Contest through the fairs if all regulations are followed.
