Fish from these eggs have been planted into Bear Lake in Rich County as well as in Fish Lake. These are the two chief waters where populations popu-lations of mackinaw are being maintained. Continuing Con-tinuing study is expected to reveal the exact causes of this condition A representative of the State Water Pollution Control Board is aiding in the investigation. Department biologists say that a large portion of the total fish population pop-ulation in this section of the Bear River has been lost because of the current pollution. The. Richfield Junior Chamber of Commerce was recently successful in obtaining 150,000 mackinaw, or lake trout, eggs. The purchase followed fol-lowed two years of effort by the organization in , the interest of furnishing a larger supply of mackinaw for nearby Fish Lake in Sevier County. Mackinaw eggs have become increasingly in-creasingly difficult to obtain since an invasion of lamphrey eel in the Great Lakes region began taking a heavy toll of the lake trout there.
