Tips Given On Preserving Christmas Tree To preserve the freshness of the Christmas tree and reduce fire hazards observe the following: 1. Select a fresh, green tree. (If the needles are turning brown, the tree has already diicl out. It will b a fire hazard.) 2. Saw off the butt end of the tree at least 1 inch above the original orig-inal cut. 3. Keep the butt end standing in a container of water during the entire time the tree is in the house. Refill the container daily as the tree absorbs the water. 4. Be sure the tree s well supported sup-ported and is away from fireplaces, radiators, television sets or other sources of heat. The tree should be placefl so it will not block an exit in case of fire. 5. Lighted candles or other open flames should never be used on or near Christmas trees. 6.
