Show Petty Larceny Problem Here; Items Recovered Shop lifting and petty larceny is becoming a major problem in Springville, it would seem from a report by Police Chief H. M. Weight this week, after he had recovered re-covered eight sweaters, two pairs of gloves and two coats, believed stolen over a period of a few weeks. First clues to th.3 identity of the offenders were picked up at the ball game last Friday, when a high school girl recognized a stolen sto-len coat on another person. An investigation in-vestigation by the police chief revealed re-vealed that two 15-year-old high school girls had a quantity of clothing in. their possession which evidently had been stolen. Each had told their parents that they had borrowed the clothing articlos from friends. The girls were turned turn-ed over to the juvenile authorities and placed in the Youth Home. Other Cases Chief Weight states that complaints com-plaints are received constantly from local merchants and the high school regarding stolen items. He urges that parents and places of business cooperate with officers in helping to solve the problem. Merchants Mer-chants are asked to watch carefully care-fully and report immediately when items are taken. Students are asked ask-ed also to report stolen articles and every effort will be made by officers to locate the culprits. |
