Show FARMERS GET FIRST WHEAT PLAN CHECKS Wheat growers of Utah who algned contracts to control pro ductlon, will soon receive checks 3 the first Installment from the national appropriation of approx Imately $102,000,000 for wheat adjustment ad-justment payments, according to word received by Director William Peterson from George E. FarrelL associate chief of the wheat section. sect-ion. Contracts are being received in Washington In increasing volume, and Issuance of checks Is expected expect-ed to Increase in production to the number of contracts received. Checks are written by special machines which have a capacity of 60,000 checks dolly. Checks had been mailed to farm-era farm-era in 40 counties in eight states, totalling $415,057. They went to scattering counties in Iowa, Neb- raaka, Missouri, Indiana, West I Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and New York. Contracts received from each county ere first examined by the county extension directors or workers, and four farm leaders. The personnel of the unit gives representation to each principal wheat region. After the county Inspection, contracts are examined Individually, and then approved for payment. |
