Show 181 JOBS CREATED IN DUCHESNE CO. ruary 15th, unless their work is unsatisfactory, when they will be discharged and replaced. This is a very disconcerting and unsatisfactory arrangement to all concerned, and one which the Relief Re-lief Committee is hopeful of having hav-ing modified. ROAD FUNDS WITHDRAWN The $35,000 which was reported to have been alloted to Duchesne County some time ago, for distribution distrib-ution through the State Road Commission has been withdrawn in favor of the employment program pro-gram outlined above. Of the $5,000 to have been spent on the Tabiona-Duchesne and Bon-eta-Neola, $2,500 has already been used on the Tabiona project. Because Be-cause of a controversy with the Altonah section, it now seems probable pro-bable that he other half of this allotment may be lost to the County Coun-ty entirely. FOREST SERVICE HOPEFUL It is expected that from 300 to 400 men are to be called from Duchesne Du-chesne County to be put to work in the Forestry Service, under the direction of S. O. Stewart, Forest Supervisor, of Vernal. Mr. Stewart Stew-art is still maintaining his camps in the forest which were expected to have been abandoned two weeks ago, waiting for new funds. There has been a maze of conflicting con-flicting reports on the relief work for Duchesne County. Changes were made constantly, through the efforts of the administration to get work started with the best possible speed and efficiency. Much credit is due our County Commissioners, and especially their chairman, G. V. Billings, for the unceasing efforts in getting the program straightened "out, and started. No funds of any sort were alloted for expenses covering this work, and yet these men have continued untiringly, giving days of their own time, and paying their own expenses, that the County might get it's share of the relief. |
