Show DISTRICT COURT HAS LONG SESSION The District Court with Judge Abe W. Turner on the bench is having a rather unusually long session this term. It convened on November 20th, and is still in session, ses-sion, hearing various civil cases. Of the Criminal cases disposed of, the prosecution was successful In most of its cases. In the case of the State of Utah vs. Rollie Ivie, Ivie was charged with assult with a deadly weapon, to which he pled not guilty. After consultation this plea was changed chang-ed to Battery and the defendant pled guilty and was fined $50.00 or thirty days in jail. A stay of execution for 60 days was granted. In the case of the State of Utah vs. Lorenzo B. Fulmer, who was charged with attempt to commit murder, as a result of the shooting affray in Duchesne several weeks ago, a demurrer was sustained, and a new complaint ordered filed. The defendant was ordered held for the new complaint. .. In the case of the State of Utah vs. Jay Lewis, charged with Grand Larcency, the jury returned a verdict ver-dict of guilty, and the defendant was sentenced for from one to ten years in the State Prison. The charge arose from the theft of clothing from the J. C. Penny Co. at Roosevelt, some time ago. |
