Show Vocational Day Highlights Youth Activities Vocational Day committee members at College of Southern Utah are expecting nearly 500 high school students for the annual an-nual influx to the campus. They will bring with them, or send ahead of time, exhibits' to be viewed throughout the Saturday occasion. Business students will be engaged en-gaged in competitive drills including in-cluding type, bookkeeping and . shorthand. A. W. Stephenson, chairman of the business department, depart-ment, announced that business and office machines will be displayed dis-played showing the latest equipment equip-ment manufactured today. The arrangement will, be the largest ever assembled for these annual CSU activities. The visiting high school student stu-dent wiU register from, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with each department In which they are entering into competition. College personnel will assist In registration procedures pro-cedures and show the visitors around. Prof. Ben Cooley, chair, man of the vocational day -committee, pointed out that 17 high schools at this time will be represented. rep-resented. Reports have Indicated that competitive Judging for entries will be conducted In leather, art other Industrial and handicraft arts. These wUl be displayed In the new auditorium breezeway. In the homemaking department a hot roll baking contest and a display featuring the opportunities opportun-ities afforded In the field of home economics will be the highlights. A fashion show will be held under the direction of Miss Jayne Winters, instructor In home and family living. At the Valley farm agriculture students will be shown the various' var-ious' breeds of sheep and cattle and Judging will be demonstrated. demonstrat-ed. A smorgasbord dinner to the seniors with box lunches to the other participants will be passed out at noon. |
