Show Bronco Thinclads loumey To BYU I Coach Bruce Osborne and 21 members of his track and field team at the College of Southern Utah will embark Friday for Pro-vo Pro-vo and the annual Invitational meet sponsored by Brigham Young University. This will be the first meet for Coach Osborne and his thinclads thin-clads and the meet wiU Include most of the Junior colleges of the area together. Intermountain Collegiate Col-legiate Athletic Conference teams that are expected to attend the BYU meet include Dixie, Snow, Carbon, Weber and Ricks In addition addi-tion to the Broncos. That leaves only Boise and Northwest Naz-arene Naz-arene College from the I C A C that will not be in attendance. Coach Osborne has set his sights on several of the events. Two winners from last year wi'l make the trip, including Kenneth Ken-neth Benson In the shot put, and Gary Robinson in the Javelin. He also expects to garner points in the 440 yard dash with Don L.j Rasmussen, Bob Vest and Royal Thornton carrying the blue and white of C S U. These three 440 men plus Robert Hill will comprise com-prise the mile relay team, which Osborne also expects to come, through with points. to the school from the service and Ray Stephenson wUl complete com-plete In the high Jump and although al-though neither are In top shape at the present time -It Is hoped that the meet will help move them along In preparation for the conference meet. In the 100 yard dash Burke Hatch will enter with Johnson and Hatch teamed with Max Johnson, John Moody and David Neilson to compete in the 220 yard dash. Leo Prestwlch and Thornton will run the 880 and Chad Thor-derson Thor-derson and Terry Bolander will enter the mile event with Vernon Vern-on Condie tackling the gruelling two mile run. Robert Hill will enter both the 220 low hurdles and the 120 yard highs with Bolander also entered In the low hurdle event. j Broad Jump will Include Johnson, John-son, Gene Secrist and Prestwich. Working on the shot with Benson will be LoRcn Provost and Jimmy Jim-my Neilson. Benson, Provost and Don Ritchie will be throwing the J discus and Robinson, Thornton i and Donald Floyd will enter the Javelin throw. The only other relay, the 880 yard event, will include team members Max Neilson, Bolander, i Hatch and Moody. |
