Show Albertos Give School Valued Gift Of Encyclopedia Set B Doris Federson The Escalante Valley School is Indeed fortunate to have friends such as Tony and Louie Alberto. Tony and Louie came to the Escajante Valley in March, 1946 from the beautiful San Fernando Valley in California. Tony arrived ar-rived first to purchase the farm, which was still in sagebrush. Louie followed a week later to the valley. Louie's' first statement state-ment to Tony was, "Have you got rocks In your head, buying this sagebrush?" They began working to clear the land and today they have a beautiful 160 acre farm. They raise hay and grain to fatten their choice Herefords. Louie has always been willing will-ing to help out at the school by caring for the furnace and building build-ing during holidays, never accepting ac-cepting any pay. Tony has served the community communi-ty as Justice of the Peace until un-til his recent resignation. Both men are happy here in the Escalante Valley and are working to make this a better community for everyone They vow never to return to California. Califor-nia. They have worked with others In the valley to get the school, are are proud of their achievements. achieve-ments. They have given freely of their time and equipment for planting Jawns and trees on the school grounds. To the boys and girls of the school, however, their latest gift Is indeed cherished. That gift was a new 30-volume set of the Encyclopedia Americana. One child summed up the usefulness use-fulness of the books by saying "We can find out anything now." They truly appreciate having them to use everyday In their studies of social and exact science sci-ence plus furnishing materials for all types of special reports. |
