Show Garland Out of the Telephone Case. Naw York, February 8. A correspondent called upon Mt Garland at Washington this afternoon. - Mr. Garland received him with courtesy. When asked if he wished to make i any special explanation about the telephone j matter, Mr. Garland drew himself up very proudly and said: "No, I am out of that " case, and no one can drag me into it again. I put myself out of that case last October when I turned its conduct over' to 'Mr. i Goode. I said then all that I had to say upon up-on the subject, and I have nothing more to say now." Mr, Garland referred to his letter let-ter that he had written to the President. His friends say that he will stand or fall upon up-on that explanation. He is too proud a man to seek to add to the defense which he has already made. - |
