Show ANGELIC ANGUS. He Harangues at West Jordan and Berates Bishop Sharp. Angus M. Cannon is still on the warpath. war-path. Within the past two weeks he delivered de-livered a red hot sermon at North Jordan before a large congregation assembled in the meeting house of that town. He denounced de-nounced everybody in general who had been frightened into obedience to tlg Edmunds law, and dwelt with 'demoniacal 'demonia-cal vehemence on Bishop John Sharp's case in particular. He stated that he, with others of his brethren, had received while at the pen a new spring mattress, which had been sent with the compliments compli-ments of Bishop Sharp. Until he had ascertained the source 1 of the appreciable gift he enjoyed its excellent comfort immensely, but when he learned that it had come from one who had renounced his wives and violated the most sacred of covenants he returned to his former hard and undesirable couch. which now had become a paradise compared com-pared with the gift of dishonor. While he was in the hottest of his denunciation of the Bishop, a niece of the latter is reported re-ported to have risen indignantly and attempted at-tempted to leave the hall, when her husband, hus-band, a Mr. Bennion, remonstrated with her and persuaded her to remain. Mrs. Bennion is one of the many who are as familiar with the virtues of John Sharp as they are cognizant of the hypocrisy and arrogance of the fugitive Stake President, and displayed the Same good judgment that hosts of Utah people would exercise if placed in a position where they were compelled to listen to such flagrant misrepresentations. |
