Show Poetry Society names Shreve president-elect Mm ! Poets from eleven chapters of the Utah State Poetry Society attended the annual awards Festival Festiv-al in Provo, April 17 and 18, where Maxine Shreve, a member of the ' Bountiful Rhyme and Reason Chapter, was named state president-elect. Joining the Bountiful Chapter in 1973, Mrs. Shreve has served in all the offices of the local chapter. On the state level she is chairman of the annual Poetry Concert, Reception Recep-tion Chairman of the Junior Creative Crea-tive Writing Awards, and is administrator-chairman of the Zara Sabin Memorial Award. She served on the editorial board of "Utah Sings, Volume VI," a poetry poet-ry anthology published once every ten years by the Utah State Poetry Society. Mrs. Shreve's poetry has won many awards and has been published pub-lished in several anthologies and other publications. Her poems have been read on KSL's "Sound of Music" program by Dr. Rex Campbell. She serves in associate production of many of those programs, prog-rams, and is liaison between the Poetry Society and Dr. Campbell. In 1984 Mrs. Shreve was MAXINE SHREVE awarded an Honorary Life Membership Mem-bership in the Utah State Poetry Society. She is one of only 16 Honorary Hon-orary Life Members, and is the only person so named since 1976. Her other literary memberships include the League of Utah Writers, Wri-ters, and the National League of American Pen Women. |
