Show WX students do well with can collections By SARA WILSON For the last several months, high schools throughout the state have been participating in the "Give Max Your Heavy Metal" aluminum alumi-num can recycling contest. With the close of the contest, the Woods Cross Wildcats continue in their winning ways by capturing a strong second place with over a half of a ton of cans collected. Sponsored by Coca-Cola, 49th Street Galleria, "Power 99", Reynolds Aluminum Recycling, and Gus Paulos Chevrolet, the contest con-test was originally undertaken to help high schools raise money, to help stimulate recycling, as well as for promoting business. In its first year, the contest proved to be extremely ex-tremely successful, and there are plans to continue the contest in future fu-ture years. On a more local level, the contest proved to be a fun worthwhile experience ex-perience for the Wildcats. Besides all of the fun activities, like stomps and barbecues, used to promote the contest, a substantial amount of money was earned, to be used towards to-wards a new marquee for Woods Cross. The success of the Wildcats in the contest, is mainly due to the tremendous support of the students of Woods Cross. Students from almost all of the organizations and groups throughout the school made collective efforts to save and donate don-ate aluminum. Members of the community also should be recognized recog-nized for the role that they played in helping Woods Cross. . We wish to thank all those who ' have participated within the last several months by collecting and donating aluminium. Your efforts are appreciated, we never could have made it this far without you! |
