Show Writers9 League prepare for 51st 'roundup' Local chapter members and I others interested in writing are invited in-vited to the fifty-first annual ' Roundup of the League of Utah Writers Sept. 12-14. The convention conven-tion will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Ogden. The Roundup will include a reception re-ception and dance the evening of Sept. 12, followed by a day of talks and seminars on writing and an awards banquet honoring winners in the League's annual contest. Meetings will conclude Sept. 14 with a poet's breakfast, where winning win-ning poetry entries will be read. Keynote speaker will be Florida resident Robert Newton Peck, author au-thor of 39 children's and adult books. These include two books-on books-on writing, along with well known children's books such as "A Day No Pigs Would Die," and his series of "Soup" books ("Soup and Me," "Soup for President," etc.) His presentations are known for their wit and wisdom, punctuated by a bit of honkey-tonk piano or Scott Joplin rag. His writing credits include 34 published songs and three national TV shows on ABC. Other speakers include G. Barnes, Utah poet and Literary Arts Coordinator for the Utah Arts Council, and Caroll Halley, published pub-lished of Meridian Publishing Inc. in Ogden, and member of the teaching faculty for writing workshops work-shops sponsored by Reader's Digest. Meridian is the nation's largest publisher of customized in-house in-house magazines for businesses and organizations, offering 11 titles. ti-tles. All sessions are open to the public. pub-lic.
