Show Davis golfers dominate By KEITH DUNCAN KAYSVILLE The 1986 golf team at Davis High has a way of making the veteran coach John Dawson younger every day. "The kids really have a special way about them and they are some darn good golfers too," said Dawson Daw-son who has coached Davis High golf since 1967. "As long as they continue to make it as fun as they are, I'll stick around and help all I can." The most recent accomplishment accomplish-ment staked by the Darts was the winning of the Davis County Golf Invitationals which is golfing competition com-petition for the six Davis County high schools. It was the second straight year the Darts have won the Davis title and the third time in the past four years. Leading the way for the Davis High team, who won the Region Four championship last fall with about the same team that comes back this year, is Chris Turner. Other key members of the 1986 team include Jeff Pearson, Jackson Kaiserman. and Brett Henderson Those four are paving the way fo the younger players. Other members of the team include in-clude Alex Ward, Shaun Turner, Ronnie Olsen, Shawn Anderson, Tim Pehrson and Jeremy Guff. "We feel pretty good about things this year, with most of the kids that helped us win our region championship last year back again," said Dawson. It was the first region championship for Davis High in the school's long and heralded sports tradition. Usually its been schools like East and Highland High-land that have dominated. |
