Show Sewer District to expand By GARY R. BLODGETT Editor BOUNTIFUL Plans were unveiled Wednesday night outlining a proposal by the South Davis Sewer Improvement District to construct a major addition to the district's sewage sew-age collection system. The expanded system would include most of the area west of 1 100 West, Woods Cross, between be-tween 1200 North and 1500 South. Cost of the collector trunk lines to serve the area is estimated esti-mated at slightly less than $1.5 million. Former Bountiful Mayor Elmer W. Barlow, who now serves as the city's representative on the sewer district's board of directors, told the Bountiful City Council that Bountiful probably would not be involved in the cost of the expansion expan-sion but district officials wanted a response from the council as to their feelings about the proposed expansion. After a lengthy discussion, Mayor Dean S. Stahle told Mr. Barlow that Bountiful favors the expansion, but since the city does not benefit be-nefit from the additional collector lines Bountiful Bounti-ful would not be in favor of paying any of the costs. The South Davis Sewer Improvement Discontinued Dis-continued on pag two Sewer district plans expansion Continued from page one trict serves cities south of Farmington to include in-clude North Salt Lake as well as the unincorporated unincorpo-rated area of south Davis County. The area planned for expansion includes about ab-out 1 .600 acres of sparcely developed or underdeveloped under-developed property west of 1 1 00 West which is presently served by individual septic tanks, Mr. Barlow explained. Of the 1 ,600 acres involved in the proposed expansion, about 1,260 acres are east of Redwood Red-wood Road and have limited residential and commercial (industrial) development. "Sewage collected from this area will have a natural flow to the main trunk line on Redwood Road and north to the north treatment plant," Mr. Barlow explained. "But sewage collected in the remaining 350 acres west of Redwood Road -- if or when that area is developed -- will require a pump system to remove the sewage to the treatment plant." |
