Show Nearly 50,000 students The District tries to maintain the teacher-pupil ratio of 27 pupils per classroom unit. All 45 portable classrooms are being used. Mr. Stevenson noted there is generally a decline in enrollment towards the end of the school year especially in high schools. He also said the enrollment in special schools will increase. The District projects high kindergarten kin-dergarten enrollment in 1986-87 and in 1987-88. After this two-year period, things should level off. dmg FARMINGTON School has been in session two weeks and the rooms are filled to capacity, according to statistics compiled by Gayle Stevenson, Associate Superintendent Su-perintendent for Davis District. The enrollment as of Sept. 2 is 49,029, an increase of 2,037 over the Oct. 9, 1983 count. Elementary enrollment is 29,437 compared to 28,108 last year. There are 9,997 students in the District Dis-trict junior high schools as compared com-pared to 9,728 last year. High school enrollment is 9,159 compared com-pared to 8,597. There are 436 students stu-dents attending special schools; 559 used these services last year. Mr. Stevenson noted the final enrollment settles down about Oct. 1. Until that date, the number will continually increase, exceeding the projected increased enrollment of 2100 new students. In most areas, enrollment was as expected with the exception of kindergarten kin-dergarten which has 100 more young students than anticipated. |
