Show ATTENTION IS CALLED TO DISEASE OF CATTLE contagious abortion having made its appearance in some of the imported dairy stock of the county county clerk frank halls called the attention of tile the state boad of agriculture to tho the condition and in reply has received the following letter jetter from the state i veterinarian allo liag has also al so s sent for containers in which to send tests to the veterinarian tile the letter roads reads mr air frank halts hall county clrk aloi cicello utah dear sir I 1 have your letter of march addressed to the state board of agriculture in regard to contagious abortion aloi tion among the dairy cattle in iff your section in reply wish id state that contagious abortion is quite wide spread throughout tile the state and I 1 hive no doubt but that you ou have infection in your section of tho the country also we are rot not in a position to glo fo any testing hom from h om this department but we are making arr arrangement to do sonic some control work we have recently created a laboratory at the college in logan so that we are able to test blood samples from these cattle and de whether or not they are infected with abortion di disease it would hoi however Never be necessary for the cattle owners to stand tile the expense of submitting tile the blood samples here in our larger counties where we have a veterinarian located we are arc asking the Hvest lives osk owners to call them in to draw the mood blood samples but ut jut in your county where you arc a long way vay from a veterinarian I 1 might suggest that you write to dr D E madsen animal pathologist college hill logan utah and ask him to send a few sample bottles with instructions how hov to draw wood blood and then you cn ca have someone to do this ind and son send in th sample to him so lie he can test them for you and advise you of the results if you find that some of the animals are infected if you will ask tile the owners to write me I 1 will be glad to nd ad vise them in regard to control measures W IT IT ENDRiCKS state veterinary narl n |
