Show Knock! Knock! - Who's There? The old days are back. The transient peddler, with his ehirttail full of merchandise, is beating the bushes in cities and towns trying by fast talk, meaninglesss "guarantees" and "cheaper prices" to sell his often dubious wares to those foolish enough to buy them House-to-house salesmen are now demonstrating appliances, kitchen ware, wearing apparel and other lines in Sugar House with apparent immunity. These birds are one-time shots you'll never see them again. They can produce a pretty guarantee, but you'll find if the article goes wrong, the good old dependable merchant is not available to make it right. No, you'll have to send it back to Kalamazoo along with the red tape. The peddler pays no taxes here; he won't buy a permit. He pays no business license which helps maintain the street where he parks his car while he drags out his junk. Any citizen with an ounce of civic pride should call the city hall when this character tries to put his foot in the door. Then he should take a trip to town where he'll find that he can buy the same or like merchandise as cheap or cheaper with" the full guarantee from a merchant who must stand behind what he sells.
