Show BHS hockey players will I shoot for state title against Olympus tonight i. By TOM HARALDSEN Sports Editor ; BOUNTIFUL The Bountiful High School ice hockey team has a chance to make history tonight when it plays for its first-ever state AA hockey championship. The Braves will take to the ice against Olympus at the Bounti- Oful Rec. Center rink tonight at 7:45 p.m. Bountiful has already beaten the Titans once in the double-elimination finals of the state tournament, so a win tonight would give the Braves the - title. Coach DeOrr Wight stated it has taken Bountiful's program a few years to catch up to those in Salt Lake City "because many of our players only started playing the game once they were in high school. Now that the rink has been here awhile, that is changing, and we have some players this year who came in with a lot of experience." Among those players isperhaps the league's MVP, Bountiful goalie Shane Klein. Other stars for the ice Braves include Jason Holmes, Chad Little, Ryan Williams, Russell Palmer and Darrin Johnson. Should Bountiful not win tonight, it will have another shot at the Titans on March 17. Watch the Clipper for more details and times. |
