Show Jr. High basketball playoffs to begin Friday By TOM HARALDSEN Sports Editor Barring major changes due to results re-sults of the final round of league games played Tuesday after our press deadline, pairings have taken shape for the first round of the Davis District junior high boys' basketball playoffs. Action begins Friday at 2:45 p.m. at host schools, and will continue con-tinue with games Tuesday and Wednesday at Davis High School. Because not all final placings Were decided prior to yesterday's games, here is a look at probable first round matchups: North fourth place team at South champion: This will either find North Davis (3-6 in league) or Central Cen-tral Davis (2-7) at Farmington (8-1) orMillcreek (7-2). North and Central Cen-tral faced each other Tuesday, and a North victory would assure them the fourth place spot. If they tied, a series of tiebreakers would determine deter-mine the fourth place team. Farm- ington hosted Mueller Park Tuesday, Tues-day, while Millcreek faced winless Bountiful. South third place team (Mueller Park or Millcreek) at North second place team (Kaysville or Sunset): Odds are Mueller Park will be the visitor, and they could face either Kaysville or Sunset, who entered the final week tied for first. Syracuse at South second place team (Farmington, Millcreek): Syracuse will finish third in the North, regardless of how it did against Sunset yesterday. South Davis at North first place team (Kaysville or Sunset): South Davis earned the fourth spot with its victory over Bountiful last week. Winners of Friday's first round games will meet Tuesday at either 3 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. at Davis High. Those two winners will play for the championship on Wednesday, March 16, at 3 p.m. at Davis High. Kaysville is the defending champ. |
