Show "Chorus Line," a water color by Kaysville's Karen Christensen, will highlight the annual Utah Women's Traveling Art Exhibit at Barnes Bank in Kaysville during March. The picture, which features an unlikely row of brahma bulls, was the winner of the prestigious Helen W. Allen award for traditional art work in the open juried competition competi-tion at the Springville Art Gallery last August. It was one of 22 entries chosen for the show from a field of 450 pictures entered by Utah women artists. An open house at Barnes Bank on Monday, March 14 at 7 p.m. will feature the artist, Karen Christensen, Christen-sen, talking about the art of water color and her experiences in painting. paint-ing. Karen, who resides in Kaysville Kaysvil-le with her husband, Roger and three children, has worked as a commercial artist for O.C Tanner Jewelry. She has been costume director for drama productions at Davis High School. The Utah Women's Traveling Art Show, sponsored by the American Amer-ican Association of University Women and the Utah Arts Council, is exhibited in a different Utah city each month during the year. In October last year it was shown in the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City as part of the Orrin Hatch Women's Conference. Harriet Arlington of Salt Lake City is the Utah state chairman. . 1 I j , I.- . ? Chairman for the Barnes exhibit and open house is Nanette Niel-son, Niel-son, who is currently teaching at the Samuel Morgan Elementary School in Kaysville. Betty Brand is president of the Kaysville Branch AAUW. Other members of the - open house committee are Ann Marcusen, program vice president, presi-dent, Donna Butler, Marilyn Hall and Marjorie Thatcher. All members of the community are invited to view the exhibit at Barnes Bank and to attend the open house on Monday, March 14, from 7-9 p.m. |
