Show A Formal Protest June 16, 1951 Mayor H. P. Edwards and City Councilmen of the City of Roosevelt. Utah Gentlemen: It has ijust been brought to the attention of us, the undersigned under-signed business establishments and property owners of Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, Utah, that a quorum of the .City Council in a regular session,'' did, on Monday, June 11, 1951 grant permission to the Phillips 66 Wasatch Oil Company Com-pany to construct a gasoline and oil bulk plant on their property in Roosevelt, Utah. .Said property pro-perty being located at the present pres-ent site of the Phillips 66-Wa-satch Service Station, one-half block east of the Roosevelt Elementary Ele-mentary School. We hereby protest the action of our City Council in granting this permit and further request that the Roosevelt City Council reverse its recent decision and that the building of such a structure struc-ture be not permitted in any form in this location at any time within the future. Fgllqw-ing Fgllqw-ing are oqr reasons for sych a protest and request; 1. It is common' knowledge that the materials handled and stored in a bulk plant of this type constitute a danger of fire I and explosive action at all times ! even under good care and pro-, tection. 2. Our homes, families, school , and business establishments would be under constant danger during the time such a plant existed. ex-isted. 3. It would lower the value of our existing property hold-1 ings by reason uf the aforesaid factors. ' |
