Show Our Boys In The Service WILLIAM G. GILES William G. Giles, fireman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wil-liam G. Giles of Myton, Utah, is serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Essex, with the UN's peace patrol off the east coast of Korea and in the Sea of Japan. The Essex began her third tour of duty in the Far East when she rejoined Task Force. 77 in the Orient in January. KENNETH BETTS PARKS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. A2c Kenneth Betts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Beets of Roosevelt, Utah, has processed proces-sed here with the 2349th Personnel Per-sonnel Processing Group en-route en-route to Korea. Prior to his shipment to the Far East, Airman Betts was stationed at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo. in food service work. Airman Betts enlisted in the Air Force in February, 1952. VERN A. JORGENSEN WIESBADEN, GERMANY Vern A. Jorgensen, 23, son of O. W. Jorgensen of Randlett, Utah, recently was promoted to corporal while serving with the Seventh Army's 40th Anti-Aircraft Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion in Wiesbaden, Germany. Combat units of the Seventh Army form a major part of the strong cordon of American defense forces stretching across the U. S. Zone of Germany. A supply clerk in Battery A, Corporal Jorgensen was employed em-ployed by the Sun Oil Co. in Beaumont, Texas before entei-ing entei-ing the Army in September, 1952. LLOYD ALDON FENN Lloyd Aldon Fenn, son of Mr. and Mrs.- Aldon Fenn, of My-tffn, My-tffn, has been selected to serve as an apprentice petty officer of his recruit company, with the U. S. Navy, training center at San Diego, Calif. The selection of apprentice petty officers is based upon the company commander's estimate of the recruit's leadership potential po-tential and his willingness to assume responsibility. These assignments as-signments are tentatively made soon after the-company commences com-mences its training and are confirmed con-firmed by the Commanding Officers Of-ficers about three weeks later. |
