Show Ramdletl By Mrs. Viola Jensen Old Bishopric 1 Given Party A dance was held Friday evening eve-ning at the Avalon chapel in honor of the outgoing bishopric. Gifts were presented to Bishop Franklin Jarman, his counselors, counsel-ors, LaRue Pickup and Mariner McMullin, and ward clerk, Albert Al-bert Harris, of the Randlett ward, and Rondle Rogers, a counselor and William W., Wilson, Wil-son, ward clerk of the Leota ward. Bishop Ralph Durfee presented the gifts. Austin War-die War-die was the speaker for the evening. eve-ning. Dancing was enjoyed to the music of the' Smith orchestra from Gusher. Refreshments were served by the MIA. Mrs. F. L. Naylor, of Clearfield, Clear-field, spent the weekend visiting visit-ing at the home of her daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Taylor. A group of Relief Society ladies spent Thursday cleaning the Indian chapel. Stake Social, Science leader, Mrs. Venice Durfee, gave a very interesting lesson Tuesday in Relief Society. Mrs. Zilpha Wall and daughter, daugh-ter, Deonn, spent last weekend visiting in Farmington at the home of her daughter. Blake V. Peay took his wife and son, Byron, to Provo to spend a week or two visiting. Primary officers and teachers of the Avalon ward attending stake Preparation meeting Saturday Sat-urday were: Donna Pickup, Nellie Nel-lie Harris, Jennie McMullen, Alice Wall, Veda Wall, Hannah Harris, Venice Durfee and Viola Jensen. Miss Irene Jensen spent the weekend viisting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Marion Shel-ton. Shel-ton. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Daniels and family, of Ft. Duchesne, spent Sunday visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Young. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon J. Lewis Lew-is and family, of Vernal, were visitors, Saturday, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Jensen. M.I.A. officers and teachers of the Avalon ward attending the Four-Stake convention at A 1 1 a m on t Saturday evening, were: Ralph Taylor, Wayne Pickup, Grant Pickup, Eugenia Pickup, Marion Taylor, Lula Dudley, Ethel Durfee Alberta Wardle, Hazel Wardle, and Viola Jensen. Mrs. Josephine Taylor, of Vernal, spent Sunday visiting at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Taylor. Mrs. Venice Durfee took her Seagull class to Roosevelt, Saturday Sat-urday evening to see the show, "Calamity Jane," after which the girls enjoyed a treat at the drug store. Shirley Rogers and Irene Jensen were graduated from the Primary, Sunday in Sacrament Sacra-ment meeting. President Donna Pickup presented the girls with a copy of the Book of Mormon. Bishop Durfee presented the girls with their Graduation Certificates. Cer-tificates. Young Womens' president, pres-ident, Eugenia Pickup, welcomed wel-comed the girls into M.I.A. Peggy Wardle played a piano solo in Sacrament meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence C. Wall, Jr., of Indio, Calif., were visitors at all Sunday meetings Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Wahlquist, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, brought a load of calves here to be pastured pas-tured this summer. The M.I.A. presented their Sunday evening services with Jimmy Nebeker announcing. |
