EVANS Uintah Basin oil Conservation District News The Vern Huffs have spent most of the summer leveling new land and planting it to al-Ifalfa al-Ifalfa When the family moved from Kamas to Leota. last spring there was nothing on .their lbU acres but chemise and small sage By fall, through the technical tech-nical help furnished by the Uintah Basin Soil Conservation District, they had leveled 44 acres of land to a uniform grade and had - 10 acres of certified ranger alfala growing. The Huffs plan on leveling an additional 1 40 acres during 1952 and will i plant mare ranger alfalfa. The I leveling Jias all been done with I their own farm equipment. SCS Dan Batty has just completed four acres of land leveling under the Highline Canal. The leveling included the filling of a wash down the center of the field. Ross Construction Co. did the leveling for Mr. Batty. sCs Woody Searle is seeding 200 acres of abandoned gfain fields to grass on Diamond Mountain. He is using intermediate and crested wheat grass seed. SCS Walt Smith has cleared and seeded to crested wheat grass 184 acres of sagebrush , and abandoned farm land along the Golden Stairs road. s C s The Clarence (Nick) Killian irrigation storage reservoir has filled with water to the spillway. This will relieve his water storage stor-age problem. When it is stocked with fish it will also provide Mr. Killian and his family with excellent recreation. sCs The O. T. Hicken Ditch Company, Com-pany, Of Tabiona, has appliod for assistance from the Uintah Basin Soil Conservation District in designing and installing an irrigation ir-rigation ditch flume across a side canyon at the Bertola place. |
