"How oft," said He, "would I have gathered you as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: Continue ye in my love." (John 15:9) Not only did he come to bring peace on earth, good will to men, when he was born of tha Virgin Mary in Bethlehem of Judea, but again in later days As the lightning cometh out j of the east; and shineth even j unto the west; So also shall the i coming of the Son of Man be " (Matthew 24:9) i After his crucifiction, resur-i resur-i rection and assension. and the ! clouds received Him out of sight i in Palestine, He visited the other shsep He referred to. Here in our own beloved America, the forefathers of the American Indians were gathered gath-ered around their ' temple in mourning and worship. "Thev! heard a voice as if it came out of heaven. . . And behold, tho third time they understood the voice, which they heard, and it said unto them: 'Behold my Beloved Be-loved Son, in whom I am well ; pleased, in whom I have glor-j ified My name hear ye Him,' And behold, they saw a mnn descending- out of heaven, anl he was clothed in a white robe: And he came down and stood in the midst of them: They were I afrighted and thought it was an I angel that had appeared o ' them. ... He stretched forth His hand and spoke unto the people, saying: 'Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophet? testified shall come into th. world ... I have drunk out of that bitter cup which th? Father hath given me. and haw glorified the Father in takin? upon me the sins of the world.' . . . When Jesus had spoken these words the whole multitude fell to the earth at the feet of Jesus and did worship Him; for they remembered that it had been prophesied among them that Christ should show himsei: unto' them after his assension into heaven. (3 Nephi 15:16-22.) - Jssus told these ancient Americans Amer-icans how their forefathers had been led from Jerusalem ami given this land of America for an everlasting inheritance. He warned them of the danger of their children dwindling in unbelief. un-belief. He told them how the gentiles, or whiteman would finally fin-ally come here in great numbers and would prosper in the land, and build up a strong nation here. . . That they would oppress, op-press, cast out and scatter those who are now the American Indian. In-dian. . . How manv churches would be built up among them. He promised that at the height of all this, He would do a marvelous work among- the gentiles. . . .. that he would set j up his church among the gentiles gen-tiles .. that a book, the record I of the forefathers of the Indian j would come to that gentile people peo-ple or whiteman. But there would be many among them who would not believe it. But there would be those among hsm who would believe it, and 'hev would carry the book, together to-gether with the Bible, the rec- i ord of the Jews, back to the remanent of the seed of these ancient prophets who wrote the book. The book was written, hidden up in the ground, brought forth again to be carried to the American Amer-ican Indian for the purpose that they may know of their forefathers, fore-fathers, learn of Jesus, the Son of God, who was born in Bethlehem Bethle-hem that they might be saved. Truly a marvelous work of great worth to Jews, Gentiles and especially to the Indian people. We proclaim that the American Ameri-can Indian "will stand forth in many dignity" and take his place in leadership in this land, "choice above all other lands," which was given to their forefathers fore-fathers and their seed forever, j All those who shall repent and come into that same covenant may be numbered with them, having Christ as their head in this glorious America, with government gov-ernment on his shoulder. We are grateful for the success suc-cess that has crowned our efforts ef-forts through the three years of our labors. We are so thankful for, and indebted to. the manv friends that have given us such privileges and assistances. Federal. Fed-eral. Tribal, Community, Religious Re-ligious leaders, and so many individuals. in-dividuals. May the Lord reward them. May we of the Uintah Basin be led by the perfect light of Jesus Christ continually on toward this glorious "oal. is the Christmas, wish of those of us humbly serving in the Uintah Basin Indian Mission. |
