Show AN ANGEL OF GOD Upon entering the Christmas season the Bishopric of the Roosevelt Second Ward wishes to extend Season's Greetings to all members and friends of the Ward. It has been well over nineteen centuries since an Angel An-gel of God announced to the world that the Messiah, of whom prophets had been speaking for centuries, had come. The Angel boldly declared "Glory to God in the Highest and on earth peace, good will toward men." It is preposterous for us lo Conclude lhat from that time peace was lo reign upon the earth, for we but have lo look over the pages of history to see lhat we have never enjoyed an era of complete peace upon the earth. Was the message of Ihe Angel false? Should we doubt the power of Christ and His message lo mankind? man-kind? We feel that the message of the Angel was not to be effective immediately upon the birth of Christ, but would show its fruits when men's lives were changed to conform to the message He was to bear unto' the wqrld. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we should be very grateful that we enjoy His Gospel and have an opportunity through the powers of the Holy Priesthood Priest-hood to receive "the peace which passeth all understanding." We should recognize thai peace is based upon law It is our solomn prayer that all members of our Ward, all members of the Church, and all people of the world will recognize the need of individual repentence and of living as Jesus has asked us to live in order to hare peace one with another. May this thought dominate our thinking this Christmas Christ-mas Season. ROOSEVELT 2ND WARD BISHOPRIC E. J. Nixon Marion R. Bowman Melvin J. Peterson Ray Haslem, Clerk Wendell Russon, clerk |
