Show This Week's RECIPE . . . The Christmas salad, recipe of Mrs. Ralph Shields, is as tasty to eat as it is good to look at. It will dress up your Christmas dinner to perfection. Christmas Salad (Serves 6) 6 Jonathan apples peel and core and cook in heavy covered cov-ered aluminum pan unti. tender in the1 following syrup. 1 cup sugar 34 cup water 2 tsp. red cake coloring. Baste the apples with the mixture mix-ture to obtain the desired red color. Cook approximately Vi hour. While they are cooking, mix V2 cup diced celery V2 cup diced apples Vi cup chopped walnuts together toge-ther and mosten with a tiny bit of mayonnaise. When applet have cooled a little, fill centers with this mixture. While they finish cooling, set qne package of iime iello until very firm. Then place each apple ap-ple on a flat lettuce leaf. With a sharp knife, cut small leaf designs de-signs out of the green iello and arrange around apple. Add two green leaves to the too to complete com-plete the red and green Yule-tide Yule-tide salad |
