Show Record Oeturn Of Forest Heraua Eiade T Stales Checks totalling $633,252.53 for the states' share of Inter-mountain Inter-mountain National Forest receipts re-ceipts have been mailed to the governors, Regional Forester C. J. Olsen announced recently. The return of funds to the states, highest in Forest Service Ser-vice history, is for the federal fiscal year 1952. It exceeds returns re-turns for the preceding year by nearly $100,000.00. Mr! Olsen said the increase is due mainly to the sale of a larger volume of national forest timber and higher high-er prices bid for the timber. Under acts of congress, the Forest Service returns 25 per cent of national forest receipts to the states for benefit of public pub-lic schools and roads. Each county's share of the receipts is determined by the proportion of national forest area in the county in relation to total area of national forest land in the state. Major sources of national forest revenue are sale of timber, tim-ber, grazing- fees and charges for special land uses. Regional Forester Olsen said that timber access road programs, pro-grams, range reseeding, and iand restoration projects are adding up to greater local benefit ben-efit from the use of the national forest resources. The national forests of the intermountain Region, which includes Nevada, Utah, Southern Idaho, Western Wyoming and small areas in California and Colorado, made returns to the states as follows: California, $4,094.84; Colorado, $870.46; Idaho, $334,630.24; Nevada, $56,-457.89; $56,-457.89; Utah, $182,221.27; and Wyoming, $54,977.83.
