Show Gallant Ellen Bracken Fourth Son Joins Up With Uncle Sam Mr and Mrs. Lynn (Bracken left for Salt Lake Nov. 20. Lynn reported on Nov. 25 for duty in the armed forces. He was to leave for Ft. Collins, Colo, for his basic training. Lynn was the high honor student at Alterra its final year and attended the BYU for two' years. The past two years he has filled a mission for the L D S church in the West Central States! After his basic training he expects to go to Virginia to enter school and there his wife' plans to be with him. Lynn is the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bracken to go into the service. His brothers, Karl, Duane and Guy were in World War II and saw active duty. His wife plans on staying in Salt Lake City, while Lynn is at Ft. Carson. i Mrs Anna LaRose and family, who have spent some time in Nebraska, have returned home and the children are again enrolled at Alterra. NEW BABY BOY Mr. and Mrs. Clair Holingsworth of Roosevelt, are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby boy, born in the Roosevelt Hospital early Wednesday Wednes-day morning, Nov. 23. Mr. Holl-ingsworth Holl-ingsworth is the first grade teacher teach-er at Alterra. Bishop and Mrs. Golden Collins went to Salt Lake City Wednesday, Wednes-day, to bring Myrtle to spend Thanksgiving. Boyd and Gay Collins Col-lins also came home from school at Ogden. While in Salt Lake they visited Dennis Kettle at the Primary Pri-mary Hospital. Mrs. Beatrice Lundberg presented present-ed the social science lesson last Tuesday in the absence of Mrs. Ardis Kettle, the class leader. BEE HIVE GIRLS PREPARE SUPPER The Bee Hive girls of the MIA, under the supervision of Mrs. Car ol' Betts and Mrs. Inez Squire, prepared a supper and took it to the John Cook home and served it there. This was to complete some of their Bee ,Hive work. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Enerson and family were' guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brisbin on Thanksgiving, at the (BeUon home.1 Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Butcher and baby girl were here from Sidney, Sid-ney, Nebraska for .Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dean were business visitors in Vernal last Monday. The government is building a new home for Mrs. ; Stella LaRose, on her farm north of the Alterra School house. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle and small daughter returned from Salt Lake City last Tuesday after spending ten days out there to be with their son, Dennis. They report re-port that he is feeling much better. bet-ter. Mrs. Annie Anderson, of Mt. Home, is visiting at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McMullin. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Walker and baby of Mt. Home, were guests at the McMullin Mc-Mullin home on Thanksgiving. IN VET HOSPITAL Fred Cook is in the Veterans' Hospital in Salt Lake City, where he will have his tonsils removed. He was accompanied out by his wife. Their two small daughters are being cared for at the home of Mr and Mrs. Ray Westwood at Rangely, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Knowles, of Neola, entertained Mr. and Mrs. Earl Winn and family and Mr. and Mrs. David Lundberg and family on Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Todd and daughters, Carol and Sherill, of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Robert Walker and two children of Ogden, Og-den, and Mrs. Dean Frandsen and three children of Roosevelt, were visitors on Friday afternoon with Mrs. George Bracken. . A turkey dinner with all the trimming was served to the students stu-dents at Alterra on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus and Mr. and Mrs. Eric A. StolJa are in the stake chorus which will do the singing in the' coming stake conference. Miss Eula Brighton, of Salt Lake City, spent the holiday weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Brighton. Miss Marion Gardner, who is attending school in Denver, spent the holiday weekend with her father, Delmar Gardner, and her sisters. ENTERTAINED FAMILY Mr. and Mrs. Alde'n White entertained en-tertained the following group on Thanksgiving: Mr. and Mrs. Karl Betts and family of Roosevelt, Mr. and Mrs. Burnell' Buchanan and children of Altamont, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Crouch and two children chil-dren of Roy, then Neil, Carl, Car-ma Car-ma and Jeanne, the ones at home. Miss Wanda Sprouse spent the holiday weekend with relatives in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Gareth Anderson and family, of Myton, have moved onto the stake church farm and are attending the Ballard ward. NO SUNDAY SCHOOL Due to stake conference being held in Roosevelt on Sunday, Dec. 4, no Sunday School or meeting will be held at Ballard. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cook and family spent Thanksgiving in Springville with Mrs. Cook's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. James Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Westwood, of Rangely, Colo., were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs John Cook on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph O'NeiL and small son spent Thanksgiving with Ralph's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn O'Neil, at Price. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire spent Thanksgiving with Mrs. Jennie Jen-nie Allred at Lindon. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Alvery, of Roy, spent Thanksgiving with Mrs. Alvery's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gareth Anderson. GOLD - GREEN BALL IS SET FOR DEC. 6 The ward Gold and Green Ball will be held at Ballard on Tuesday evening, Dec. 6. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sprouse, Mrs. Emma Sprouse and Mrs. Zella McGee, of Roosevelt, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sprouse on Thanksgiving. A FAMILY GET-TO-GETHER Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus entertained en-tertained their entire family on Thanksgiving. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Angus and family of Lyman, Wyo.- Mr. and Mrs. Norman Angus and baby of Logan; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Timothy and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Angus An-gus and family of Roosevelt, and their girls at home, JoAnn, Elaine and Beatrice. LEAVES FOR BRAZIL Miss Myrtle Collins, who spent Thanksgiving holidays at home, left for Salt Lake City on Monday. She planned leaving that evening for New York, prior to sailing for Brazil. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Cook went to Maeser on Thanksgiving as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Max Todd and son; Craig, went to Maeser to eat Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Rex Gardner. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Butcher entertained en-tertained Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Butcher, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Butcher Butch-er and Walter Prince on Thanksgiving. Thanks-giving. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Gneitting and two children, of Lewiston, Idaho, visited several days at the home of Mrs. Gne'itting's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hullinger. Mrs. Hul-Iinger Hul-Iinger who had been visiting in Idaho, returned home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gardner received re-ceived a telephone call from their son, Gary, who is laboring as an LDS missionary at San Carlos, Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brighton had as guests at Thanksgiving, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Brighton, Miss Eula Brighton, Mr. and Mrs. Don Kil-lian Kil-lian and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bingham. HOME FROM KOREA Larry Larsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Larsen, returned home last week from Korea, where he has been stationed for quite some time in the armed forces. His wife, the former Luane McDonald, daughter of Mrs. Violet McDonald, has been attending school in Logan and staying with her mother during dur-ing his absence. |
