Show PTA Discusses SB 75; See School Operetta A large group of parents and teachers attended the monthly PTA meeting last Thursday night at the Roosevelt elementary elemen-tary school, with Mrs. Gilbert McKenna, president, taking charge. Entertainment was provided by Mrs. Wilford Robinson's third grade students and a group of students from the drama dra-ma class at Roosevelt high school, directed by Mrs. Norman Nor-man Murphy. The operetta, "Why The Garden Gar-den Quarreled," was portrayed in costume by the third grade class, under the direction of Mrs. Robinson, with Mrs. Ben-nie Ben-nie Schmiett as accompanist. A vocal solo was sung by Dorthy Dillman, accompanied by Margie Scurlock, A one-act play, "Billy's First Date," was presented by several students from the drama class, followed by a story in dance and song, "Annie Doesn't Live Here Any More," also by a group of students directed by Mrs. Murphy. Principal Lawrell Jensen and John Blaine informed the audience aud-ience of the importance of the passing of Senate Bill 75, deal ing with school allotments, which was vetoed by Governor J. Bracken Lee. Action was taken by the group to compose a letter, signed sign-ed by the parents present, in favor of the House of Representatives Represen-tatives overriding the governor's veto, and have it delivered to Wm. Brotherson, Duchesne county representative. It was further decided that several of the group would telephone Mr. Brotherson Friday morning to inform him of the sentiment of the Roosevelt P.T.A. Other legislators leg-islators were to be contacted also. The next P.T.A. meeting will be held April 5, at which time election of officers will take place. |
