David Watkins, music instructor instruc-tor and director of the opera, states that the two-hour-opera I incuuding two acts and four 1 scenes, has completed the final jreheasals, with an outstanding performance promised for the afternoon matinee at 1 p. m., and the evening presentation at 8 p. m. in the high school auditorium. aud-itorium. "Maritana," by Wallace, jg rated one of the mqst popular of the rp.mgntic operas, and has been staged in the leading opera houses of the world. This particular opera has been adapted adapt-ed to high school stage performance, perform-ance, being published by Carl Fisher, and re-adapted by J. Spencer Cornwall and W. O. Rnhin:nn There will be a splended array ar-ray of costumes, Spanish in design, de-sign, many of which have been ordered from a Salt Lake costume cos-tume house. There are 54 cast participants. Assisting Mr. Watkins with various phases of the annual school event are Joe Reidhead, stage manager; Carol Todd, Re-nee Re-nee Eldredge, Patsy Reidhead, and Roene Lemon, costume designing; de-signing; Shauna Gilbert and Leila Horrocks, accompanists; Lora Reid, poster work; courtesy cour-tesy invitations, Sherry Dennis; special numbers between scenes, Treva Gabbert, Catherine Rowley Row-ley and Sherry Dennis. Parents and the general public pub-lic are urged to reserve next Tuesday as a must oh their March calendar of events. |
